Complaints and how they get handled
What to do if something goes wrong with a solar installation, who is responsible for what, and how to escalate properly.

The useful version
Every company with volume has complaints. What matters is what happens next.
More than 20,000 installations will produce problems: a delayed permit, a production estimate that came in high, an inverter fault, a scheduling failure. The question worth asking any solar company is not whether complaints exist but whether they get resolved and who owns the resolution.
Who is responsible for what
Sales and agreement terms
That is us. If something was represented to you incorrectly, that is a SolarAmerica issue and we want to hear about it directly on (832) 263-8055.
Workmanship and roof penetrations
That sits with the installing partner contractor, under their workmanship warranty. We will put you in contact and stay on it.
Equipment failure
Panel and inverter faults run through the manufacturer's warranty. Under a power purchase agreement the system owner handles this for the term of the agreement, which is one of the practical differences between a PPA and a purchase.
Interconnection delays
These belong to your utility and neither we nor the installer control the queue. We can tell you where you are in it.
How to escalate anywhere, not just with us
Put the complaint in writing and keep the thread. If it is not resolved, your state contractor licensing board handles workmanship and licensing, your state public utility commission handles interconnection and utility conduct, and your state attorney general's consumer protection division handles sales conduct. The Better Business Bureau is useful mainly because the resolution thread is public.
What we will not do
We will not tell you a delay is your utility's fault when it is ours, and we will not promise savings we cannot demonstrate. If solar does not beat your rate we say so at the quote stage rather than after.
Who you would be working with
SolarAmerica
We design your system and manage the project; installation is performed by vetted licensed partners in your area. SolarAmerica is not itself the installing contractor.
Questions
The things people actually ask
How do I file a complaint with SolarAmerica?
Call (832) 263-8055 and put it in writing as well so there is a thread. Sales and agreement issues sit with us; workmanship sits with the installing contractor.
Who regulates solar installers?
Your state contractor licensing board handles licensing and workmanship. Your public utility commission handles interconnection and utility conduct. Your attorney general's consumer protection division handles sales conduct.
What if my system produces less than the estimate?
Bring the monitoring data. A production estimate is a model, and models can be wrong; the response should be a site check, not an argument.
Check your address
About 60 seconds. No cost, no obligation, and we will tell you if solar does not make sense for your home.
