How SolarAmerica works
What actually happens from the moment you enter a ZIP code through installation, interconnection and the first bill after your system turns on.

The process
From ZIP code to a system that is producing
1. The ZIP check
Your ZIP tells us your state and whether we have partner coverage there. If we cannot serve you, we say so at that step rather than taking your details anyway.
2. The rate read
We show you what your utility charges, using the published figure with the date on it, not a national average. If your roof cannot beat that rate, that is the honest answer and you will get it.
3. The roof read
We check your address against satellite imagery for usable roof area, orientation and shading before anyone visits. That is how you get a real number quickly instead of a brochure range.
4. The conversation
A representative calls to confirm details and walk through the two structures — purchase or a $0-down power purchase agreement — and what each one means for your monthly number and for the sale of your house later.
5. Design and proposal
System size, panel layout, production estimate and the agreement terms in writing, including any escalator. Read the escalator clause. It is the single most important number in the document after the rate itself.
6. Permitting and installation
Permits are issued locally and requirements vary by municipality. The installing contractor is a licensed partner in your area and you are told who they are before scheduling. Installation is usually one to two days on the roof.
7. Interconnection and switch-on
Your utility inspects and grants permission to operate. That timeline belongs to the utility and varies by territory. The system does not produce credit for you until this clears.
8. After
Under a PPA the system owner carries maintenance and monitoring for the life of the agreement. Under a purchase, that responsibility is yours and your warranties are with the manufacturers and the installer.

How long does the whole process take?
The variable parts are permitting and utility interconnection, both of which sit outside our control and differ by municipality and utility territory. Installation itself is usually one to two days.
Who contacts me after I request a quote?
A SolarAmerica representative. We do not sell your details to third parties.
What happens if I sell my house under a PPA?
The agreement transfers with the home to the new owner, subject to the terms in your agreement. Read the transfer clause before you sign.
